Jumpchain Wikia

Companions are friends that are able to travel with the Jumper across each jump.

How Companions Work[]

  • The numbers of companions that can be taken are unlimited, though only eight companions can be imported during a jump, unless you have a perk that overrides that limit, or you take an option for that jump that explicitly states you can take more companions at once.
  • You don't have to import companions to keep them active, but only imported ones can take perks from jumps, inactive companions will be at your warehouse just doing companion things while you adventure and such.
  • Companions respawn 48 hours later in the warehouse if killed.
  • To take someone sentient from a setting requires purchasing them as a companion or putting them in a stasis pod.
  • Generally, anything you create doesn't take up companion slots.
  • Usually, to recruit a companion, you must first of all buy the option to do so in a Jump, which depending on how the Jump is written, will either have you gain them automatically, or mean you’ll be given the opportunity to recruit them, yourself, personally; tending to obligate the Jumper into not only spending CP, but also convincing them to go on adventures.
  • Of course, there are exceptions, such as Rival Drawbacks (Such as Bulk and Skull on the "Power Rangers" or Scrappy in "Scooby Doo") and similar drawbacks, not to mention the scenarios in specific jumps that give companions, such as the ones in "The Room" and "The World Only God Knows"

Stasis Pods[]

  • Stasis pods are for "storing" extra companions or friends that were not purchased or offered in jump.
  • Podded companions respawn in a week rather than 48 hours if they are killed.

Other Options[]

  • Blue Feather

The Blue Feather item (Harvest Moon) can be given to anyone to make them into a companion without needing to purchase them in the Jump.

However, these companions still take up a companion slot.

  • The Blue Feather/Cheat mode combo

It is considered possible to use the "Not Enough Items, Cheat Mode" perk (Minecraft) to duplicate a Blue Feather up to once per month. Since a Blue Feather lets you turn other people into companions without purchasing them, in theory the number of companions is limited only by time (generating up to 120 feathers per normal jump, but you can stockpile the feathers over time).

Non-Companions[]

Most pets don't count as companions unless they're sapient. Some Robots or AIs don't count as companions, but some do.

Pets and simple robots are usually listed as 'items' rather than companions.

Some entities, for example a spirit living in an enchanted helmet, are not treated as companions as they don't have an independent body. Likewise, beings which are temporarily summoned as part of a spell are usually not counted.

Some characters are treated as "followers" instead of full companions, generally meaning they are automatically imported but don't get the ability to get choice points for purchases. Companions can't be downgraded to followers, but usually followers can be imported into a jump to become a full companion.
